Window Trim Repaint
Hand-cut trim lines around large picture windows
Taped and hand-cut trim around a wall of picture windows, with two finish coats and a clean release for sharp lines.

The job
A wall of large picture windows had weathered trim that made the whole elevation look tired. Rather than spray and risk overspray on the glass, we taped, sanded and hand-cut the trim so the lines stay sharp against the siding and the glass stays untouched.

Our recommendation
Hand-brushed trim repaint with full glass masking — slower than spraying, but the only way to get clean lines around large fixed glass without a cleanup bill.
The result
Sharp, even trim lines with no bleed onto glass or siding.
Scope of work
What we did
Process
How we approached it
Step 1
Mask glass and surrounding siding
Taped and papered the glass and adjacent siding so the only surface exposed was the trim itself.
Step 2
Sand and spot-prime
Sanded weathered, splitting areas back to sound wood and spot-primed bare spots so the color stays uniform.
Step 3
Two brushed finish coats
Brushed two coats of exterior enamel, working wet-edge along each run so there are no brush marks or stop lines.
Step 4
Warm tape pull and detail
Pulled the tape while the film was still flexible for a clean break, then detailed any pinholes by hand.
